Brighton House 02

Architecture Caisson was commissioned to design this new house that responds to the heritage character of the local area with a soft building form employing traditional materials. The design brief was to achieve a house that sits well with the period houses in the street yet provides all the benefits of contemporary design. The open plan living area at the rear of the house enjoys a tall cathedral ceiling and floor-to-ceiling glass on three sides. The interior is a promenade of spaces that enjoy a dialogue with the perimeter garden settings. The use of an arched colonnade softens the grand proportions of the house and provides natural shading to the interior spaces.
